Love Our LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) Mission Statement
The Love Our LEOs Fund was established because of a recognized need for active support and involvement by local residents for our Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs). Public safety is a pillar of a good quality of life. Adequate equipment, training, and resources for our LEOs are vital. Lafayette Parish is known for its unique culture, hospitality, sense of community, food, music, and welcoming spirit. Love Our LEOs will help ensure all of these ingredients that provide for the great quality of life we have here continue!
Program Summary
Love Our LEOs Fund at The Community Foundation of Acadiana is a non-political, grass roots, community supported effort to provide needed resources to local law enforcement agencies in the Lafayette parish area. In the current environment of dwindling funding, increasing community challenges and small, but vocal attacks on law enforcement agencies and officers, Love Our LEOs is a movement to show our community’s support for those entrusted to keep us safe.
Fund Description and Vision
Love Our LEOs Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana was established and will be funded by concerned residents to support local law enforcement agencies/officers as they work to make our community safe.
The fund will initially provide support for Lafayette Parish LEOs. The vision is that once structure and policies/procedures are established and operational, this program will be rolled out in the surrounding parishes. The long-term vision is that communities around the country will partner with community non-profit foundations to establish similar Funds.
Advisory Panel
Love Our LEOs is non-political and will be comprised of an advisory panel made up of representatives of local law enforcement agencies coming together to identify needs (such as state of the art personal protective gear, additional training opportunities, EAP/Counseling programs for officers and families, etc.) which require funds that local governments may not be able to provide because of budgetary constraints.
One representative from each of Lafayette parish’s law enforcement agencies will be invited to participate on the advisory panel to help determine where funds may best be utilized. Agencies included are as follows: Lafayette Police Department, Broussard Police Department, Carencro Police Department, Duson Police Department, Scott Police Department, Youngsville Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department and University of Louisiana Lafayette Police Department. Local law enforcement agencies will identify needs in their departments and may submit application requests listing cost/benefit analysis to the community.
Funding
Initial funding of Love Our LEOs has been seeded by the J.C. Moss Family Charitable Fund. The communities support is also needed to foster and grow this initiative. Donations can be made via the credit card link above, from your Donor Advised Fund at CFA or elsewhere, or by a check made payable to:
