SCI Louisiana Acadiana Chapter Donates $10,000 for Flood Response in Memory of the late Russell Jackson of Lafayette Shooters

Daniel Jackson, son of the late Russell Jackson, and members of the Louisiana Acadiana Chapter of the Safari Club International present a $10,000 check to Raymond J. Hébert, president and CEO of Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), for the Acadiana Disaster Response Fund at CFA to benefit those who were affected from the August flood.

(Lafayette, La.) – The Louisiana Acadiana Chapter of Safari Club International (LACSCI) recently donated $10,000 to Community Foundation of Acadiana’s Acadiana Disaster Response Fund for flood response efforts in memory of the late Russell Jackson, founder of Lafayette Shooters.

Jackson was recognized as LACSCI’s first donor of the year at its inaugural banquet shortly before passing away on October 9, 2016. One of the chapter’s humanitarian goals of the banquet was to donate a portion of the proceeds of table and auction item sales to local flood victims.

"We knew we wanted to donate a portion of the proceeds from our first banquet to help flood victims in Acadiana, and we felt CFA was the best organization to help get our dollars to those who need it the most,” said LACSCI President Greg Elliott. "We were all saddened by Russell’s passing. He was a great man and a wonderful supporter of SCI. He understood our mission and our purpose, and it only seemed right that we honor him and give this gift in his memory.”

CFA has awarded a total of $473,000 for flood response efforts from the Acadiana Disaster Response Fund. Grants have supported programs for flood victims and provided direct assistance to individuals. (CFA is not accepting applications for individual assistance, but will instead, rely on the expertise of grantee organizations to qualify and confirm eligibility.)

Donations from individuals, corporations and others may be made online at www.cfacadiana.org/flood. Checks may also be made payable and mailed to Community Foundation of Acadiana (Memo: Acadiana Disaster Response Fund), 1035 Camellia Blvd., Suite 100, Lafayette, LA, 70508.Donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your contribution, less standard credit card fees, will benefit our neighbors.
