Cleco Community Fund Awards Grants - 12/1/2017 -

Cleco Community Fund Awards $100,000 to Acadiana Nonprofits

Lafayette, LA - The Cleco Community Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), generously awarded seven grants totaling $100,000 to nonprofits in Acadiana. The grant recipients will focus on a wide variety of causes.

Catholic Services of Acadiana will purchase durable hospital furniture for St. Joseph Emergency Shelter. The shelter provides a sleeping area, bathrooms and common space for nearly 200 low-income male citizens.

Eunice Community Health Center will provide free healthcare, free prescriptions and affordable lab work for working uninsured and under insured patients.

Faith House Incorporated will support the Hope and Resilience project that focuses on helping adults and children to mitigate the trauma of abuse and focus on a healthy lifestyle.

Healing House Hope for Grieving Children will distribute grief support kits to school counselors to meet the needs of bereaved children throughout Acadiana

Miles Perret Cancer Services will provide financial assistance to cancer patients affected by lymphedema who are unable to afford appropriate treatment, especially the uninsured and patients of lower socioeconomic status.

Opelousas General Health System will expand its use of telehealth to serve the health care needs of children in underserved schools located in rural areas of Acadiana.

St. Mary Outreach and its Promise of Light program will assist residents who are experiencing financial difficulty with paying their utility bill.

Cleco Community Fund granted to organizations who are established as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization serving Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and/or Vermilion Parishes. Grants were awarded to individuals, private business ventures or partisan political organizations.
