Cecilia French Immersion is one of the oldest French Immersion programs in the state of Louisiana, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2018. The Cecilia French Immersion program begins at the Kindergarten level and continues through the eighth grade. The program’s goal is to ensure the Cajun, Creole and French heritage is preserved through the continuing education for students.

"We are so proud to support French Immersion in our schools,” said Laura Berard Huval, Al Berard Music Festival Coordinator and daughter of Al Berard. "We recognize the cultural and economic impact the French language and culture has in our state. Keeping the language alive will ensure the survival of our Cajun and Creole Heritage. The Al Berard Memorial Music Fund at CFA supports not only music and art education but also community projects and organizations that promote the rich culture in Louisiana,” she said.

The Al Berard Memorial Music Fund promotes Acadiana's unique musical culture by providing instruments, master teachers and music scholarships to students of all ages. The fund honors the life of the late Cajun musician, Al Berard, who was a pillar of his community and a mentor for music lovers everywhere. His passion was to teach everyone he met about his love for music and for the Cajun/Creole culture.

The Al Berard Memorial Music Fund was established by the Berard Family to honor Al Berard’s legacy. All gifts to the fund are tax-deductible.
