Palmetto Island State Park

Located off La. 82 on the Vermilion River between Abbeville and Intracoastal City, Palmetto Island State Park is a full-fledged 1299-acre facility.  Amenities at the site include 6 two-bedroom cabins, campsites, 95 RV camping facilities, 4 picnic pavilions and picnic sites, a water playground and floating pier.
The official opening of the park was October 28, 2010 followed by a very special Grand Opening and successful Fundraiser on Saturday October 30, 2010 where Wayne Toups brought the public together for a family event filled with Cajun music, food and fun for all ages.
Thanks to the efforts of a group of dedicated state and local officials, as well as numerous concerned citizens the Palmetto Island State Park Fund has now been established by CFA for the sole benefit of the park and its operations.
Your tax-deductible donation to the park through CFAwill help keep the park open. Local and state officials look for the park to provide an economic boost to Vermilion Parish and the surrounding region.  It will serve Louisiana citizens and out-of-state visitors alike.   To make a tax-deductible donation, click here.
